2nd graders looked at some different examples of Halloween art with black cats and pumpkins and made their own versions. We used a limited color scheme to achieve a spooky effect. I love Halloween, but I don't like the really scary stuff, so they did a great job of keeping Halloween "cute."

Munch "Scream" portraits
5th graders learned about the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch just in time for Halloween. They drew themselves screaming, and used oil pastels to fill in details in the foreground and background. They painted overtop with watercolor for the last details. They were appropriately spooky for Halloween!
Jack O'Lanterns
1st graders made these adorable Jack O'Lanterns with construction paper and oil pastels. They had a lot of fun making them and they loved to see them displayed on their room.
Halloween Silhouettes
3rd, 4th and 5th graders painted Halloween silhouette paintings. They used oil pastels for the trees, hill, and other Halloween themed details. Then they painted a sunset sky with purple, red, orange and yellow liquid watercolors.
5th grade fall trees
5th graders learned how to blend paint colors, starting in the middle with white, then yellow, and on the outside with red. They blended them altogether to make a pretty sunny background for their fall trees. They drew then cut a tree shape out of black paper then added some details once they glued them with paint.
Red Lions
Since we go to RED LION Elementary school, 1st graders created their own Red Lions. They drew their faces first with red marker then used neon tempera to create a large mane growing all around.
